AMICO CAMPUS 2017

I Rotariani, si sa, sono gente strana. Appartengono ad un sodalizio che ha 112 anni e che come prima azione costruì un servizio igienico a Chicago. Proprio strana, sì, ma attenta a quello che serve al territorio, pronta ad intervenire dove altri non arrivano.

Nel nostro Distretto 2050, raccogliendo le sollecitazioni del Rotary International, un gruppo di Rotariani particolarmente sensibili, ha orientato i Club e i loro Soci a prestare un’attenzione particolare verso le frange più deboli della società, ai poveri, agli ammalati e ai Diversamente Abili.

Si sono concretizzate molte azioni in aiuto alle varie Istituzioni, Associazioni e Cooperative di servizio, che da anni operano sul territorio, mediante l’acquisto di materiali e apparecchiature elettromedicali all’avanguardia per Ospedali, la promozione dell’inserimento sociale delle categorie svantaggiate, il progetto “Protesi”, ed altro ancora.

Alla fine degli anni 90, sempre nel nostro Distretto, sono stati pensati e organizzati i primi corsi di informatica per Non Vedenti, diffusi poi in tutto il nostro territorio e presso altri Distretti italiani.

Proprio in occasione di un corso per Non Vedenti, tenutosi a Fano (Distretto 2090, Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo) qualche anno fa, oltre a consolidare i rapporti con i Rotariani di quell’area, abbiamo avuto l’opportunità di conoscere una bella iniziativa che stava nascendo in quel territorio: offrire ad un gruppo di Disabili la possibilità di fare una vacanza al mare.

I Rotariani avrebbero curato l’organizzazione, il finanziamento, la realizzazione pratica.

L’esempio, il successo, la collaborazione e i rapporti personali instaurati con gli Amici di Fano e Ancona, ne hanno permesso l’importazione e l’adattamento alla nostra realtà territoriale.

Nell’anno rotariano 2009-2010 il Governatore Carlogiorgio Pedercini, che ha condiviso l’organizzazione dei corsi di informatica fin dall’inizio e coinvolto attivamente nei rapporti gli amici Marchigiani, ha lanciato e promosso Amico Campus a Service distrettuale.

I Rotariani e i Club del Distretto 2050 hanno così organizzato la prima edizione di Amico Campus nelle sedi di Lazise e Salice Terme. Ciò al fine di agevolare i nostri speciali ospiti con la partecipazione attiva dei Rotariani del territorio circostante: 41 Club hanno aderito già il primo anno e, nelle due sedi, sono state ospitate 124 persone. L’anno successivo 174 fra Disabili e familiari hanno goduto del soggiorno, mentre nel 2012 siamo giunti alla bella cifra di 251. Nell’anno 2013, il Governatore Armando Angeli Duodo ha sollecitato l’apertura di una terza sede a Mortara (PV). Abbiamo così toccato le 300 presenze fino ad arrivare allo scorso anno con 400 fra Disabili e accompagnatori.

L’obiettivo di questa iniziativa, prettamente rotariana, è focalizzata sulla “Persona” e, in particolare, su quella che ha bisogno di essere riconosciuta come parte della società che ci circonda. Sebbene lo stereotipo comune sia il bello, il sano, il giovane, il ricco, la realtà è molto diversa anche per i normodotati, figuriamoci per i Disabili e i loro Famigliari.

Il Gruppo di lavoro di Amico Campus tenendo conto delle varie situazioni, ha scelto di intervenire in favore della disabilità intellettiva e relazionale.

Queste Persone e le loro Famiglie vivono uno stato di isolamento e, non di rado, di vergogna, in parte mitigato da Associazioni o Cooperative Sociali che si sono formate negli ultimi 50 anni al loro sostegno, con l’accoglienza e l’aiuto dei centri diurni, oppure con la costituzione di apposite strutture per l’ospitalità continuativa (Dopo di Noi).

La nostra azione vuole offrire un'opportunità di centralità, rendendo i Disabili protagonisti e attuando così una sana rivoluzione sociale, armata di affetto e simpatia, non da ultimo finalizzata ad attirare l’attenzione verso i bisogni di chi è, per convenzione, nato dalla parte sbagliata.

Per questo, noi offriamo una settimana di svago che altrimenti, per mancanza di strutture adeguate all’accoglienza, per difficoltà economiche delle famiglie, nonché per la mentalità e paura irrazionale da parte del “normale”, non sarebbe possibile.

La formula di accoglienza è così strutturata:

1. Amico Campus Lago a Lazise, sul Lago di Garda. Alloggio in bungalow 4 o 6 posti letto, escursioni e attività quotidiane tipiche di una vacanza. Momenti comuni e conviviali in una tendostruttura appositamente allestita. Occasioni di confronto fra i Genitori e professionisti rotariani, opportunità di dialogo e cura della persona. Serate con spettacolo e musica.
2. Amico Campus Terme a Salice Terme. Mattina dedicata al relax tipico delle località termali: piscina calda, idromassaggio, inalazioni, fanghi, benessere, ecc.. Alloggio in Hotel, escursioni e attività ludiche. Conviviali e spettacoli di intrattenimento.
3. Amico Campus Sport a Vigevano. Centralità sulle attività sportive: nuoto, tennis, golf, ippica per i nostri Ospiti. I momenti comuni nelle conviviali e relativo intrattenimento ludico.
4. Amico Campus Montagna a Ponte di Legno/Tonale. Nuova edizione 2017 per lo sport invernale. Un gruppo di “Ragazzi” accolti in un prestigioso albergo, forniti di tutto l’abbigliamento e attrezzature sciistiche, con l’ausilio di Istruttori specializzati ha iniziato a sciare sulle piste del Tonale.

Particolare risalto va dato al coinvolgimento dei Rotariani che mettono a disposizione le loro passioni e collezioni personali (ad esempio le auto d’epoca per il trasporto dei Disabili, offrendo loro gradevoli tour) e forniscono istruzione e partecipazione in sport particolari (golf, tennis, canoa).

Il Rotariano, inoltre, presta servizio come organizzatore, aiutante attivo, manovale, cameriere, cantante, attore, musicista, autista, clown e ogni altro bisogno del Campus.

Amico Campus è una iniziativa che impegna i Rotariani che la sostengono da sempre e gli Amici che via via ne rimangono stregati, ma l’incondizionato affetto dei Protagonisti e delle Famiglie è la moneta che riempie l’anima di ognuno di noi, lieto di potersi mettere a disposizione ed in discussione per una buona causa, per un Service che (una volta tanto!) racchiude in sé ed esprime i precetti, qualche volta purtroppo bistrattati, su cui si fonda il nostro sodalizio.

Rotarians, you know, are strange people. They belong to a partnership that is 112 years old and which as a first action built a toilet in Chicago. Just strange, yes, but attentive to what the territory needs, ready to intervene where others do not reach.

In our District 2050, following the solicitations of Rotary International, a group of particularly sensitive Rotarians has directed the clubs and their members to pay particular attention to the weakest fringes of society, the poor, the sick and the disabled.

Many actions have taken place in aid of the various Institutions, Associations and Service Cooperatives, which have been operating in the area for years, through the purchase of cutting-edge electro-medical materials and equipment for hospitals, the promotion of the social inclusion of disadvantaged categories, "Prosthesis" project, and more.

At the end of the 90s, still in our District, the first IT courses for the Blind were conceived and organized, then spread throughout our territory and in other Italian Districts.

Just on the occasion of a course for the Blind, held in Fano (District 2090, Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo) a few years ago, in addition to consolidating relations with the Rotarians of that area, we had the opportunity to get to know a good initiative that was being born in that area: to offer a group of disabled people the opportunity to take a beach holiday.

Rotarians would take care of the organization, funding, practical implementation.

The example, success, collaboration and personal relationships established with the Friends of Fano and Ancona have allowed them to be imported and adapted to our local reality.

In the 2009-2010 Rotary year, Governor Carlogiorgio Pedercini, who shared the organization of IT courses from the beginning and actively involved his friends from the Marches in relations, launched and promoted Amico Campus to District Service.

The Rotarians and the Clubs of District 2050 have thus organized the first edition of Amico Campus in the Lazise and Salice Terme offices. This is in order to facilitate our special guests with the active participation of Rotarians from the surrounding area: 41 clubs already joined in the first year and, in the two locations, 124 people were hosted. The following year 174 people with disabilities and family members enjoyed their stay, while in 2012 we reached the hefty figure of 251. In 2013, Governor Armando Angeli Duodo urged the opening of a third office in Mortara (PV). We thus reached 300 presences up to last year with 400 disabled people and carers.

The objective of this initiative, purely Rotarian, is focused on the "Person" and, in particular, on the one who needs to be recognized as part of the society that surrounds us. Although the common stereotype is the beautiful, the healthy, the young, the rich, the reality is very different even for the able-bodied, let alone for the disabled and their relatives.

The Amico Campus working group, taking into account the various situations, has chosen to intervene in favor of intellectual and relational disabilities.

These People and their Families live in a state of isolation and, not infrequently, of shame, partly mitigated by Associations or Social Cooperatives that have been formed in the last 50 years to support them, with the welcome and help of the centers. daytime, or with the establishment of special structures for continuous hospitality (After Us).

Our action wants to offer an opportunity of centrality, making the disabled protagonists and thus implementing a healthy social revolution, armed with affection and sympathy, not least aimed at attracting attention to the needs of those who are, by convention, born from wrong side.

For this reason, we offer a week of leisure that otherwise, due to the lack of adequate reception facilities, the economic difficulties of the families, as well as the mentality and irrational fear of the "normal", would not be possible.

The reception formula is structured as follows:

1. Amico Campus Lago in Lazise, ​​on Lake Garda. Accommodation in bungalow 4 or 6 beds, excursions and daily activities typical of a holiday. Common and convivial moments in a specially set up marquee. Opportunities for discussion between Parents and Rotarian professionals, opportunities for dialogue and personal care. Evenings with entertainment and music.
2. Friend of Campus Terme in Salice Terme. Morning dedicated to relaxation typical of spas: hot pool, hydromassage, inhalations, mud baths, wellness, etc. Hotel accommodation, excursions and recreational activities. Convivial and entertainment shows.
3. Amico Campus Sport in Vigevano. Focus on sports activities: swimming, tennis, golf, horse racing for our guests. The common moments in conviviality and related playful entertainment.
4. Amico Campus Montagna in Ponte di Legno / Tonale. New 2017 edition for winter sports. A group of "Boys" welcomed in a prestigious hotel, equipped with all the ski clothing and equipment, with the help of specialized instructors, began skiing on the Tonale slopes.

Particular emphasis should be given to the involvement of Rotarians who make their passions and personal collections available (for example vintage cars for the transport of the Disabled, offering them pleasant tours) and provide education and participation in particular sports (golf, tennis, canoe).

The Rotarian also serves as an organizer, active helper, laborer, waiter, singer, actor, musician, driver, clown, and any other campus needs.

Amico Campus is an initiative that engages the Rotarians who have always supported it and the Friends who gradually remain bewitched by it, but the unconditional affection of the Protagonists and Families is the coin that fills the soul of each of us, happy to be able to making available and questioning for a good cause, for a Service that (once in a while!) embodies and expresses the precepts, sometimes unfortunately mistreated, on which our partnership is founded.
